Coastal Road Trip Day 3

Our next stop was Monterey, California to go to the Aquarium. It was amazing.
This was the best jellyfish exhibit I've ever seen.

The seahorse exhibit was beyond incredible but the pictures didn't turn out all that great.

On Cannery Row in Monterey.
Pebble Beach.

The Lone Cypress.
I think this was called the Ghost Tree. It was on the Pebble Beach road.
Carmel-By-The-Sea was a very cool town with great shops. We were there once most things had already closed. I would have liked to go to the art shops they had EVERYWHERE!!

These shots were taken on Highway 101 on our way to San Francisco.

Coastal Road Trip Day 2

There is an Ammunitions Depot in Hawthorne, NV so most of the city was dedicated to that. This was an outdoor museum with a whole bunch of inert weapons.
Dad likes to ride missles.
This is Mono Lake in California. This is the Eastern Side of the Sierra Nevadas.
This is the Western side of the Sierras. I think by this picture we were in Yosemite.

Pictures can't capture how beautiful Tioga Pass was in Yosemite.

We spent a few minutes watching the rock climbers.

These flowers were in the Yosemite Valley near the river.
The geologist in me fell in love with the valley. It was covered in glaciers which helped carve the U shaped valley.

My first blue jay.
Up at Glacier Point overlooking Half Dome.

I now understand why Yosemite is one of the most popular national parks.

Coastal Road Trip Day 1

A gorgeous sunset as witnessed from our hotel at the El Capitan Resort and Casino in Hawthorne, Nevada.
Eating BBQ at the Lovelock Train Depot.
Salt Flats in Western Utah.

Lucy and Lola

I didn't finish last place!!

This was before we left at 6:30ish.

An incredibly unflattering picture of me jogging. This is proof that I actually did jog at least part of the 5k.
Nick beat Tom but they both placed in their age divisions.
Next time I do this race, I WILL be skinnier and hopefully more in shape.
At the end of the race.

My results:
Swim: 15:45
Transition: 6:03
Bike: 55:31
Transition: 1:03
Jog: 46:28

Total Time was 2 hours 4 minutes 51 seconds

My goal for next time is to finish in under 2 hours.

Triathlon Tomorrow

I did really great at training in June. Then I went on a 2 week road trip and have spent the past 2 weekends in Utah. Basically, I am not ready at all. I found out that the last time I did a triathlon it took me 2 hours 15 minutes. I'll probably do worse this time. Wish me luck.
